OMD: Gradient! With palms of course

OMD Day 17: GRADIENT! I love gradients! For this design I painted my nails yellow. Then i chose four more colors and made a different color gradient on each nail. Well, the gradients didn’t come out flaweless as you can see in the top picture, so I decided to add my favoirite nail art design. Palm trees! I can’t get enough of palm tree nail art!

Colors used: Yellow ”Isa Dora – Mellow Yellow”, Blue ”Isa Dora – Miami Blue”, Purple ”Isa Dora – Bella Vita”, Green ”Isa Dora – Marzipan”, Peach ”China Glaze – Mimosa’s Before Mani’s”

From time to time I get the question of what brush I use for my palm trees. The reason why it’s hard to give a qiuck answer that question is because I always cut my brushes. So here’s my brush. The name of it is Artist’s Water Colour Sable – Rigger size 1 by Winstor & Newton, England. It’s pure kolinsky and the hair is about 16 millimeters long. As you see I have cut it quite much! Never cut the lenght of the brush, then you’ll lose the pointy tip of the brush. But I cut away almost 80 percent of the thickness of the brush. I bougth it in an artist’s shop in Stockholm for about 80 sek (12 usd). I use this brush for palms and zebra stripes. This is my most precious brush and the palms almost paints themselves!

DIY Nail Polish Rack!

English: I have lots of nail polish that don’t have a place on my overloaded shelf. I’d love to have all nail polish visible but for some time I have had many of them in a box. So I decided to build a nail polish rack! I want it to be light but sturdy, so I decided to make it out of cardboard, and wrap all the pieces of cardboard in newspaper and wallpaper paste – like papier-mâché – for strength. So I started to cut out all the parts of cardboard. A backboard, six shelves, two sides and front to all the shelves. Then I soaked newspaper in wallpaper paste and wrapped all the pieces of cardboard. Exept from the shelves, I painted them with black acrylic paint. Wrap in newspaper makes the parts harder and more stable, and of course I think the newspaper look is pretty cool!

When everything had dried completely, I used a glue gun and glued on the shelves (picture above). Then I glued on the sides (picture below).

Then I glued on the fronts on the shelves. I wanted the fronts because I think it looks good and to prevent the polish bottles to slip off the shelves (pictured above). Then I decorated the fronts with studs (pictured below).

Here is my new nail polish rack! A little awry and crooked but very personal and I am very happy that I did it myself instead of buying one.

Giddypolish ”Manic By Midnight ” and New Base Coat!

manic by midnight

English: This is the last of the four Giddypolish I got from Tonje. This one is called Manic By Midnight and it is a deep blue jelly with lots of glitter in different colors shapes and sizes! Fantastic and beautiful! Easily applied and great formula. Then I added some doubtful nail art. A silver skyline. The idea was great but sometimes it just doesn’t turn out right on the nails. Well well, forget and move on!giddypolishDSC08349-2 DSC08359nail art skyline

Nytt baslack!!

English: New base coat/strengthener! I just bought NailTek Foundation II. I’ve heard this do wonders with your nails! Stronger, harder, stop peeling! I first heard it from Misschievous from Youtube. She used OPI Nail Envy for a while but her nails were still peeling and when she startet with NailTek she never looked back! Here’s her words about Nail Envy vs. NailTek! After that I saw NailTek almost everywhere! Now I’m going to try it! Yay!nailtek foundation
